Reality 2.1 has been released
The update to Reality 2, version 2.1.1.108, has been released today. To install this update you simply have to close Studio and restart it. At startup Reality will detect the new version and it will give you a button to use to start the download of the new installer. Upon pressing the “Upgrade…” button your Web browser will be called with the link for the download. Once the file has been downloaded you simply need to re-install Reality with the new installer. Please be sure to quit Studio before doing that.
If you use Firewall/AntiVirus software please make sure that they allow Studio to connect to the Net.
Cheers.

It’s actually the normal, no the UV, and you are right that Reality could have the option to flip the normal for objects that have them point outside. It’s just that, so far, all skydomes that I tried have the normals facing inside. To simulate the sun you can simply place a meshlight, scale it down considerably and then move it where the sun should be, according to the skydome texture.
I guess the only skydomes I have are DimensionTheory’s Cloud Nine (for DS), which he uses the UberEnvironment’s “environment sphere” for his skies. Just did a simple test to confirm.
Maybe reverse normals would be useless and not really important in most cases, but actually it would be useful for some “out of the box” ideas, such as a faerie captured inside a container of some sort, and the container suddenly glowing from the effect (lol, and I never do faerie stuff haha). Just a nice little simple option
Reality 2/Lux 0.9 all easily installed. Now, I can happily switch out of DS3 and have some fun with DS4….excellent work Poalo, pure genius.
Thank you very much Kylumi. Looking forward to seeing your new masterpieces.
Hi Pret-A_3D,
I opened up Daz tonight and downloaded the update. Am on a Mac Pro, early 2008, and running newest version of Lion. When I go to install the update I get an update failed please contact you message. Any advice?
Thanks!
Hi Dan.
Please find the answer here: http://preta3d.com/forum/reality-faq/when-installing-reality-on-mac-os-i-get-a-message-that-the-installation-failed/#p3517
Thanks.
Thanks Pret-A-3D!
Hi Pret-A-3D
So I found where it was installed, and the install still failed. Then I uninstalled Reality by removing it from the plugin folder in the Application’s folder, and removing the folders from the stuido4 folder in my documents folder. The install still failed. So I downloaded a fresh copy from the downloads page and still failed.
The installer you’re using is the same one that some of the add-ons to modo use and it always fails on my system. Any ideas why?
I can unpack the installer and install manually. Not sure why this type of installer doesn’t work. At least I can unpack it. A lot of the older stuff from Daz comes in a VISE installer that doesn’t work in Lion.
Dan, the installer used for Reality is the Apple/Mac OS system installer. In fact Reality is delivered as a package and the Mac OS system instaaller manages it. If you are having consistent problems with teh Mac OS package manager you might have problems with your OS. You can try to reboot you Mac is Safe Mode. This is done by restarting your Mac and pressing the Shift key while the machine restart. Hold the key down until the “spinning gear” appears. Let the Mac boot in safe mode and then restart the machine. If that doesn’t fix it you might need to use DiskWarrior or make an appointement with the Apple store or local Apple authorized service center.
Pret-A-3D,
Because I make a living with my computer I check my drive obsessively with DriveGenius. The Luxology installers are also Apple’s installers, but whoever configured them did something, or didn’t do something, and the password prompt never appears. So they fail.
I removed the two pkg files from your installer and each worked just fine on it’s own installing to the default.
Apple did update Lion and release it late last week. Chances are pretty good they did something to mess with your installer. After all, they really screwed up us Rails folks with an Xcode update a while back.
I don’t remember having a problem with the original install back in December or Early January when I bought your plug-in.
