Hi Paolo, sorry to be always the one who bothers about features, but I wish to talk to you about something that I really need for being able to use SLG for animations…
Going to the point, the fact is that I need to know if it's possible to add in Reality a control on some parameters of SLG. Let me explain: for my animations I need to change some of the parameters outputted by Reality, otherwise the speed and the picture quality don't meet my goals.
My points are three:
1) Reality does not give a value to the parameter "opencl.task.count" that controls the use of the GPU memory. SLG standard value is 65535 that is good for compatibility with most GPUs, but it reduces the performances. In facts, if I change this parameter to 917704 (Good for my Radeon 6950 with 2Gb of memory), the rendering speed of SLG improves so much, around 30%-40% better. So, having a control on this parameter can be good for advanced users with a GPU with a good quantity of memory on it.
2) Reality puts the "film.tonemap.type" to 0 (The "Linear Tonemapping" parameter, 1 is for Reinhard02), and puts the parameter "film.tonemap.linear.scale" to 2. Now, these parameters are not so good for rendering with a Sun(After all, according to what I think I have read in the Reality's User Guide, Linear Tonemapping is better with Meshlights), and not good too with renderings with low lights: for example, to make this picture http://mcmxc2.deviantart.com/a…..-282499738 I had to set the scale to 6. There are some problems with the Reinhard02 too: it has a parameter "film.tonemap.reinhard02.burn" with the standard value of 6, and when the light is a Sun it produces too much bright pictures, so when I use it I have to manually set it to 9 or 10. So, having a control in Reality that lets the user choose between Linear or Reinhard02, and a control on their parameters too (Scale for Linear, Burn for Reinhard02), will be very useful.
3) I wish to know if it's possible for Reality to create, after saving the various cfg files, a BAT file that permits to start SLG and the render of the frames outside DAZ Studio, closing it to save memory(It's a need for complex scenes).
Please, Paolo, tell me: what are your thoughts on these things?
