AMD vs Nvidia for OpenCL Rendering

Postby DeviantShade » Mon Nov 05, 2018 9:35 pm

I'm in the market for a new graphics card and was wondering if AMD or NVIDIA performed better in OpenCL rendering. I know that AMD cards support OpenCL 2.0 and Nvidia cards do not. Nvidia cards also seem to under-perform in Luxmark benchmarks compared to AMD cards. Can anyone tell me if one has an advantage over the other?

For luxrender only i would go for AMD. But, if you do use other render engines like Iray go for Nvidia.
I wanted to use other programs like 3D photo scanning, it is almost all Cuda depended and that is Nvidia.
Next year it is time to look for a new computer, i will go for Nvidia and Intel.
I keep my old AMD computer for OpenCl rendering. So, the answer is look at what you are going to do in the future.
this would be funny if it weren't happening to me
