Water Plane for Special Effects

Postby Nathanomir » Tue Jul 19, 2016 12:58 pm

The Reality Water Plane isn't just for wet stuff. It also makes a wonderful effect for characters escaping a painting.

The Water Plane is a heck of a lot easier to use than warping the fire out of a plane in Hexagon, and setting it to glass (trust me).

The trick here was to have a wall out of view to reflect in the whole Water Plane, not unlike a sky when rendering a pool. There is an image behind the plane to serve as the painting from which the characters are escaping, but it doesn't really appear to be needed.

Play around with the Water Plane and see what vistas it opens up. How about a "Through the Looking Glass" scene? Or a magical portal? Or a barrier between worlds? Or a force field?
