Just installed, lights not working

Postby twall » Sat Oct 13, 2018 11:18 am

Hello,

I just installed Reality 4.3.1.16203 for Daz Studio. I've used older versions of Reality before. I tried a test scene, as it's been a long time since I've used Reality, and was getting an error: Severe error: 46] No light sources defined in scene; nothing to render in LuxRender.

I have made a test scene with two primitives in it, one is a cube, one a sphere. I made one camera.

In Reality, I converted the sphere's texture into a light. It shows up in the lights:

SS001.jpg

Reality "knows" there's a sphere and a cube in the scene:

SS002.jpg

But when I tell it to render the frame, it doesn't export the light. Here's the entire lxs file:

It's like the sphere disappeared alltogether. I've tried it with mesh lights in the scene, too.

I am using Daz Studio 4.10.0.123

Could you help troubleshoot?

I did the same thing and it worked fine for me. Not sure what's going on with your setup. I have had to quit Reality/DAZ Studio and reload a scene before because an object wasn't getting sent to Lux, though. Have you tried that?

I appreciate you trying it, I don't know why it's not doing the lights for me.

I have tried quitting both Reality and Daz Studio and reloading, it doesn't help. For some reason, it seems that the lights are not being included in the lxs file.

I'm wondering if I should uninstall/reinstall or if someone from pret-a-3d has any thoughts on what's going wrong here?

Make sure you do not have the light parented to the camera, since that would make it invisible. You could also try with an IBL instead of a mesh light.

Most likely though, this is a Reality install problem.

Since you have had earlier versions of Reality installed, I would try a uninstall followed by a re-install of Reality.

You can find how to un-install Reality here: http://preta3d.com/wiki/doku.php?id=uninstalling_reality_4_studio_edition. Make sure you have no previous Reality installations left, before proceeding to install. This will insure that you do not end up with a mix of different Reality versions.

For the re-install it is best that you choose the defaults suggested by the installer.

Please note that you do not have to re-install DAZ studio, since it is a major hassle and have never provided a solution to any Reality-related issue as far as I know.
