Gothic candlebra

Postby Marcel2586 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 2:38 pm

Here my reviewed object with textures.
Have fun with it.

First i like to give many thanks to Sigstan for his help and patients.

Sigstan has added a few things to the original:

1) Model now contains more material surfaces (you really never can have enough)
2) Clickable Scene Subset for fast loading
3) DS Material settings provide quick setup with lots of flexibility
4) Smart-propped light emitter provides alternative to emissive version
5) Renamed textures to provide shorter unique names
6) Added a couple of helper textures and a transparency texture for the light version
7) All DS material settings mapped directly into corresponding Reality presets

No emissions used.

Download it from here.
And please, do not forget to read the license text.

Use the metal textures with glossy, as they were designed as glossy.
use a setting of 9000 glossy and look at the pictures how to set up the emission part.

All the textures where made in Substance painter.
The candelabra was refurbished in Lightwave Modeler and Blender.

Looks great, Marcel.

Is this a floor piece or a table piece? - Just wondering what unit size I should import it as

It is a floor piece and import it as Lightwave 1unit = 1 meter
The total length is 1.85 meter
this would be funny if it weren't happening to me

Gothic Candelabra using mesh light

Postby sigstan » Thu Feb 23, 2017 4:47 pm

Well, I am old school so I tried using a small mesh light instead of emission:

GothicCandelabra.jpg

Recommended Light emitter settings in Reality Lights tab would 20-30 Watt Power and a Color temperature of 4900. Flame surface should be turned into a matte translucent material and candle requires a transparency map. This also works fine in CPU - No acceleration mode, which apparently has some issues with emissive surfaces. Using a low light sIBL for global lighting and lens glare in Luxrender.

Render time about 2 hours reaching 2000 SPP in CPU accelerated mode.

Thanks for a great model, Marcel.

Dang, Marcel. That's some exquisite modeling.
