Weird results when using Reality/Luxrender

Postby joecavis » Wed Oct 30, 2019 5:52 am

System: Windows 10 64-bit Version 1903 (18362.418)
Program: DAZ Studio 4.12.0.86 Pro Edition (64 bit)
Plugin: Reality plugin® version 4.3.1.16203
Renderer: Luxrender version 1.6.0 Build 16132
Product: Grace Yong and Grace Yong Hair for Genesis 8 Female(s) (SKU 60585)
GPU: Not turned on

Hello everyone.
I recently bought some Genesis 8 products but when I tried doing a render, it came out quite strange. After trying a few times, I decided to do the render on IRAY to see if it has the same problem. However, it came out much better so I suspect I probably had the wrong settings in my Reality/Lux renders.
If anyone can help point out my mistake(s), it would be greatly appreciated :D
Both renders are attached for your reference.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi

I'm not familiar with the Grace Young product, but any generation above Genesis 7 will not render correctly out-of-the-box in Reality, because the automatic presets have not been updated for newer versions.

This does not mean, that you cannot render the newer DAZ generations, but just that it takes a little bit more effort.

Since we all hit this issue, it has been addressed previously in the forum. Take a look at this thread: http://preta3d.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=807 for more information and links to automatic presets for G8.

I also recommend taking a look at PlatnumK's excellent beginner guide:
http://preta3d.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=643

This will give you a good understanding of Reality basics.

Cheers,
Sigstan

Great guide, Daniel!

Interesting that we now have iRay Uber to 3DL converters. These can be very useful for third party products, not supporting iRay Uber shaders.

Even found a free script: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/139326/irayto3delight-conversion-script/p1
(haven't had time to test it much though)

The worst one to convert are hair props by OOT because you have to convert then to iRay Uber 1st, Then convert then to 3Delight afterwards.
