Re: Genesis 8
I have to agree in that in general the quality of a lot of content (not just figures) seems as if it was geared for the game industry, not just geometry but how the textures are done (heavy use of normal maps). I tend to use a lot of displacement maps & as such why 95% of what I do is in DS/Iray...

Re: Not usable with cross platform luxrender
I have to say I'm intrigued purely from a technical point of view (plus love challenges lol). If I get a chance over the next week or so I'll install Linux in a VM and install DS & Reality in it via Wine. Reason being that in my eyes (plus looking at my scene files with "Texture Collection&...

Re: Not usable with cross platform luxrender
Texture collection works and is machine independent using relative paths rather than absolute paths with drive letters etc, otherwise you wouldn't be able to send a job to a online renderfarm. I always use texture collection for reasons i wont go into here, but i have on numerous occasions taken my ...

Re: What do i need to keep?
I know this is probably obvious but thought I would mention it. Did you do a texture collection in Reality as that would mean you could continue before you re-install all your content like textures etc. Personally I do not use the default runtime locations for my Daz/Poser content, instead they are ...

The max temp for that CPU is around 74 Degrees C so at 117 I'm surprised the system is still running as AMD tend to throttle the CPU pretty aggressive when they get hot. Also read a while ago that the temp sensors in the FM2 based chips is not that great & only shows the average rather than per ...

Re: Norton flagging Reality as Bad Reputation
I have not had any AV software installed for more years than I can remember, on any of my machines. Well technically not true as I do have AntiMalewareBytes installed but that does not run in the background or anything as I have to manually run it (which I do roughly every month when I remember). Ba...

Re: hide a wall, but block light?
Not sure if you know how to model but another method is make a cube and remove one end (like your scene is) and place that over your scene, essentially like your scene but rotated 180 degrees. You then scale the width and height in Poser so it's the same size as your room but scale the depth longer ...

Re: hide a wall, but block light?
I presume your using an HDR or Sun/Sky as a light. Easiest method (basically a cheat) is to create a simple plane object oriented the same as the wall you have hidden and scale it up very large, then move it back so it's just behind the camera. The bigger the plane the more light it will block, depe...

Re: DS 4.8, Really 2.5 in Win 10?
In 1986 i bought my first Amiga 1000 with Kickstart 1.1 on a 3.5 disk. Then came Amiga 2000 and 3000T and a 4000T with my Amiga 2000 i had Magic WB installed, it was way ahead of its time. And when i bought a Retina graphics card with 1280x1024, it was stunning and amazing. Up in my loft I still ha...

Re: DS 4.8, Really 2.5 in Win 10?
Apart from it (IMO) being flat and boring Funny thing is I like the look of Win10, especially the task-bar as it is less cluttered and you can see at a glance if programs are busy (such as downloading in Chrome as it colours in the background like a progress bar). In all honesty every version of Wi...
