Paolo, its very sad to see you go! Me, all the guys in the group had such a good time all these years thanks to your creation!
I hope a long life to Reality as an open software (and please drop by! (: )
And please keep us posted on your new adventures!
A Very Big Thank You!
Reality is now Open Source Software
Re: Reality is now Open Source Software
Thank you FatBear, I really appreciate your kind words.
Technically speaking, I'm not going anywhere
I'll still support Reality for everybody who buys it or had bought it, and the site remains to provide assistance to everybody. The forums stay here and nothing will change for the time being. I'm just not developing Reality. In fact I have left software developing altogether. After 30+ years of writing code, I needed a change
Cheers!

Paolo,
I must add my sincere thanks to this thread. What amazing dedication to your customers! Truly wonderful and deeply appreciated. I think it's a grand idea to make Reality OS, and I hope it continues to grow.
Best,
MC

Re: Reality is now Open Source Software
I feel sorry that you had to leave the project. But I only came to know about this project few days back. I tried to download from the bit bucket, but the download fails (Though it says completed) at 728mb from different networks and computers. Can you please help, what could be wrong?
Re: Reality is now Open Source Software
Hi.
I have no connection with Bitbucket. If it fails it’s probably something with your connection. Sorry.

Hi Photon.
I thought of something. Are you trying to download it or clone the repository? I suggest that you use Mercurial to check out the project.

Re: Reality is now Open Source Software
Hello everybody.
I just added a few instructions in the Reality repository on how to compile it. I also added two large zipfiles with the Qt libraries that are necessary to compile Reality on Windows and Mac OS. This repository is called reality-libs.
The whole project is here:
https://bitbucket.org/%7B4306b2ca-f3b1- ... e23dc3%7D/
Cheers.

Re: Reality is now Open Source Software
Hi Paolo
A bit late on this thread, but better late than never
Just want to say thanks for all your hard work on Reality, and all the best in your new venture.
Like many others here I learned a lot about PBR and all the stuff related to creating realistic 3d scenes by working with Reality. Your program made me able to produce images in a quality that I never believed would be possible for me to achieve. I also really enjoyed participating in this forum and helping out with the beta-testing.
These days I'm mostly working on creating game worlds in Unity (on a hobby level), but I find the skills I learned from using DS and Reality are still relevant, when working with PBR and textures. Still using Reality once in a while to create still image for title pages etc.
I hope that some dedicated people will pick up the open-source version of Reality and do something amazing with it.
Cheers,
Niels
