Meshlights, and lights converted to meshlights question.

Postby TrekkieGrrrl » Fri May 20, 2016 8:02 am

I have a question about the meshlights.

In my current scene I have three meshlights and an IBL.

Two of the meshlights are "parts of a model converted to light" (specifically two bulbs in two lamps.)

The problem is, I can't adjust them individually once Lux takes over. Then, they're all just "Meshlight" in the slider/setting.

And in this case, I would really have liked the top meshlight a little brighter without the lamps blowing everything out.

Is this possible? If so, how? :)

Very easy to do.

I have two spheres as example, but it could be anything.
Note that the pictures are from Daz Studio but it works the same as Poser.

In Reality i changed the spheres to Lights in the Material tab
In Reality click on the Lights Tab and click on the mesh light so that it is selected.
Now underneath you will see Gain, Power (watts), Efficiency and the one we need to change, Light Group.
In the bar under Light Group you can change the name of the selected light.
I have changed it to Mesh Lights 1 and 2 (I change names more like Top light, right light......)

Now start Luxrender and go to Light Groups tab.
You will notice that you have now two mesh light named Mesh light 1 and Mesh light 2
Now it is possible to set values individually

Greetings,
Marcel.
this would be funny if it weren't happening to me

mmm I tried assigning them to different groups but it didn't stick. I must try again then because this was what I thought would do the trick. :) I must have done something wrong, I guess.
