What does Pret-a-3D mean?

Postby pciccone » Mon Feb 29, 2016 5:49 pm

I have been a fan of the world of fashion for a long time. From the photographer's point of view fashion is an endless source of inspiration and enjoyment.

In fashion you have two main branches: Haute Couture (High fashion) and Prêt–à–porter (Ready to wear).
Haute Couture is the custom-made fashion, designed by a great stylist and made to fit one person. A single garment can cost a few ten of thousands of dollars. That is, obviously, out of reach for most people.

Decades ago the world of fashion exploded with tremendous success because of a simple idea: take the design of talented stylists and produce the garment at high quality but in large numbers. Then make those clothes available through popular department stores and at reasonable price.

Pret-a-3D introduces the same concept for software. In 2010 we introduced Physics-Based Rendering (PBR) to the word of DAZ Studio and Poser. Before that event, PBR used to cost anywhere between $1000 and $5000 per license. Our software, Reality, gives you that kind of power but at a $50.00 price range. It's 3D "ready to wear."

That's what our name means.
