So about the grey lines in OpenCL

Normal CPU Accelerated

My mesh light's Daz shadow settings had MedShad on and Sharp on. Turning on verysoft removes the grey line kinda but brings it about on the characters nose. Is there any other setting in the Reality panel to remove the lines?

Was following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMXq2-_hPgo

Note even with CPU accelerated there is a slight irregularities but atleast its the skin color and can be brushed away later.

Not that I know of. Just loaded V4.2, applied skin, moved camera in that position and set lighting parameters.

Try subdividing to 2.

There are also some known issues that can cause those lines; a quicj solution is to turn SSS off. Hopefully other forum regulars can weigh in on the matter.

Oooh thanks - turning SSS off for the skins helped.

The neck still has that black part, which is not an issue, I guess. Gonna read the Reality manual now.

Will try subdividing with SSS on.

SSS must b turned off with OCL, at this time. Things will be different in future releases. About the dark shadow, that is caused by the lighting. If you use a softer light the shadows will be less stark.

Hope this helps.

Ha ha the vid is from Flagg 3D who is another artist with my "style" produces nice stuff. He works mostly with iray now. I find that I can only get decent results using cpu acc no boost monodir sobol with 1 mesh light using sss. If I add more then 1 light I get noise on the skin. Hence why I use "both" rendering engines..

Still love to luxrender
